Key ingredients to daily living

Food & Friendship

We take our food somewhat seriously here at Cunningham House! All the meals are nutritious, varied, and lovingly home made by staff who specialise in catering and nutrition. Residents have breakfast in their rooms, then gather for lunch and supper in the dining room.

All that is asked of the residents is that they eat communally and contribute to the social fabric of the house. Their sponsors and families in turn contribute by way of attending social events and supporting residents in their independent living.

As individual keyholders, residents come and go as they please, and welcome friends and family at all hours. Villagers and visitors pop in at ‘Coffee O’clock’ (10.30am everyday) and newcomers are welcome by arrangement.

Events & Activities

It’s up to the residents how they choose to spend their time but there’s plenty to choose from. Research shows that loneliness and social isolation influences one’s mental state and emotional wellbeing, so here at Cunningham House we enable and encourage active participation in a wide range of activities.

Sometimes we take the residents to places of interest such as pubs, gardens, shopping centres, art exhibitions, church lunches, etc.

Sometimes we bring the entertainment to the residents and host events in-house including film afternoons, toddler coffee mornings, scrabble and craft circle, pet visits, fundraising events, etc.
