CUNNINGHAM HOUSE

November being the month for Thanksgiving, and as Cunningham House Executive Chairperson is American, I thought it appropriate to share with PeriNews readers what our residents are feeling thankful for. Top of the list at the moment was being thankful that they didn’t have to worry too much about the cost-of-living crisis, as their bills are all included in their monthly rent. Second, was being thankful for their supportive families, whom they moved from further afield to be near. And thirdly was being thankful for the nice hot cooked meals served to them every day. This reminded me of saying grace at primary school…always the same without much thought to it; “Thank you for my mum and sister and for the food we’re about to eat, Amen”. Recited on automatic pilot back then, but it shows that whatever age we are, the most important things in life are food, warmth and supportive family, and I myself am thankful that our residents all feel they have these.
