CUNNINGHAM HOUSE
As we age, we generally expect to have increasing trouble with hearing and eye-sight. Technology now offers a wide range of aids to help hearing, including rechargeable hearing aids and aids which are controlled on a mobile phone app. And for visually impaired people, it seems that with the right equipment, Alexa can do pretty much anything you ask! The big but for older people who haven’t grown up with technology is being able to operate it to be able to benefit. For our resident with advanced AMD, her most successful aid is her talking watch. Simply press a button and it tells the time in quite a loud voice. The big but with this, however, occurred in the middle of a church service when the talking watch announced mid sermon “the time is ……”. Sorry Rev George! With bad hearing too, she didn’t think anyone else would hear!
